Are all of BABYBEARSHOP's skincare products free of allergens?
We have worked diligently to eliminate the use of common allergens in our skincare products. You will find no wheat, soy, corn, nut or dairy derived ingredients here. We do not use ANY nut oils. We have tried to avoid the use of any oils or ingredients that are common irritants to children and adults. However, if you have a known allergy to lavender, chamomile, or mandarin oils, it is best not to use our products. While they have been selected due to their healing and calming properties, they may not be appropriate for a small percentage of consumers with specific allergies. Please review our labels to make sure you are not allergic to any of our ingredients before buying or trying.

Are essential oils safe for newborns?
All of our products are safe for the most sensitive of skin. However, newborns are lucky enough to have fresh and delicate skin that is for the most part, well balanced. It is often unnecessary to use baby lotions and moisturizers on babies younger than three months. If however, you feel the need to treat splotchy skin, cradle cap, or other skin irregularities, we suggest you speak with your pediatrician or naturopath before using any products on your newborn's brand new skin. Show your doctor our product page if you have any concerns about the right treatment. You will be hard pressed to find a purer blend of organic oils and natural butters than ours.

Can your products help clear eczema and itchy skin?
Our very first product, Cheeky Baby Butter, was specifically developed by our founder to soothe an infant's painful, red, and chronically dry eczema. We cannot make any medical claims to treat or heal eczema, but our personal experience and customer testimonials speak for themselves. The calendula oil used in our Cheeky Baby Butter has been known to provide the most natural relief from eczema and chronic dry skin. If you or your loved one suffers from eczema or other skin irregularities, or simply has persistent dry and scaly skin, consider Cheeky Baby Butter and our other skincare cleansers and moisturizers as a first natural defense against eczema.

Please keep in mind that what we put in our bodies is just as important as what we put on them. If you are faced with the inconvenience and frustration that eczema and other skin problems can cause, take a look at your diet. Have you been tested for food allergies? Are you eating whole fruits and vegetables and trying to avoid fatty and high sugar content foods? We believe that the combination of safer skincare with a cleaner back to nature diet is the most effective way to combat skin ailments. That, and avoiding trigger foods that are not good for you.

What about psoriasis? Can your products help me with my psoriasis?
Psoriasis sufferers can also benefit from the same ingredients, such as calendula oil, that are found in our Cheeky Baby Butter and the calming chamomile and mandarin oils found in our Mama Belly Oil and Baby Bird Soap. If you suffer from psoriasis, it is important to be gentle to your skin and keep it properly moisturized. Consider a warm soak using a cap full of our Mama Belly Oil for relaxation and relief from itching and inflammation.

What is the big deal about parabens and phthalates?
Parabens are commonly found in a range of skincare and cosmetic products as a synthetic preservative. Research points to some potentially problematic health issues that may be associated with the use of parabens. Since what we put on our bodies often ends up in our bodies, it is especially important to avoid the use of skincare that relies on parabens as a preservative. Parabens can mimic the hormone estrogen, which is known to play a role in the development of breast cancer. Why doesn't your Wishy Wash Baby Wash create bath suds?
While most parents feel a sense of assurance from the suds that are created by many traditional baby bath products, the use of sodium laureth sulfate (SLS) is often used to create the frothy suds. However, these soapy suds are a false sense of assurance and SLS is known to be a common irritant for children and adults. We do not use any chemicals that create bath suds. The pure and organic oils in our Wishy Wash Baby Wash create a powerful, yet incredibly gentle and moisturizing cleanser for babies, children, and even adults. My Cheeky Baby Butter is thick. Is this normal?
Yes! We are actually on our second iteration of Cheeky Baby Butter. Our newest version was specifically designed to be creamier than the first to meet the needs of our customers. However, since our products are truly natural and organic, please expect the butter to be a true balm with a slightly creamy texture. When stored in cooler temperatures, it will harden. With warmer temperatures, it becomes creamier. For the easiest application, scrape a teensy bit out in your palms, rub the balm between your hands to make it warm, and apply to affected skin areas. A little bit goes a long way.

How long will my organic skincare products from BABYBEARSHOP last?
Since we only use natural preservatives in our soaps, oils, and butters, you can expect organic skincare to be most effective for approximately two years. Since you only need a teensy bit of our product when using on infants and children, you can expect one jar or container to last for at least three months (used daily in regular amounts) and up to nearly eight months for intermittent use. Please recycle and/or reuse your containers when you run out!
