 When grocery stores started charging for plastic bags a while back this got me thinking. My family had been using re-useable bags and bins for quite a while, but what about the plastic produce bags? What can we do about those? Then this past winter in a blog that I read regularly, one of the readers posted a comment and referred to Steward Bags. I got curious and looked up Steward and I had found my answer. I ordered some of the bags, both for the purposes of addressing the wasteful plastic produce bag issue and for testing them out for the store. Was I ever impressed! (I'm now hooked and cannot imagine using a plastic produce bag again!), I loved them so much that I decided that I had to bring them on as part of our product lineup. The bags are made of 100% organic cotton and are re-useable, so no more plastic produce bags to fill up the landfills.They come in 2 convenient sizes and they are priced very reasonably.  Now that the colder weather is here (well for most of us anyways!) we have just added to our store these beautiful eco-friendly baby blankets by Baby Boomba. So why are they Eco-Friendly? Well this is the best part! They are made from Bamboo Fleece (what is better than a fleece blanket?!) and organic cotton. Each blanket has a pretty fabric print by designer Amy Butler. We offer 3 different prints, Merrill (great for a baby boy), Melia, (perfect for a baby girl) and Liam, wonderful for either a boy or a girl.  This is without question one of our favourite products in the store!  This line first caught our eye quite a while back and we are so excited to finally have it in our store to offer to you! Eco-Me manufactures do it yourself cleaning product kits. Common cleaning products that you can find in your local stores contain so many harmful chemicals, awful things that you would not want anywhere near you, let alone your children! We can go on about this one, but we'll leave that for another separate blog post! We have tried out and have brought into our store the 100% Natural Baby Diaper Pail Deodorizer and the 100% Natural Baby Cleaning Kit (shown in the image). The idea is simple. The kits contain recyclable jars, scoops, essential oil blends etc., everything you need to get started. All that is left to do is for you to add some simple household ingredients such as water, vinegar and/or baking soda and you have your cleaning kit all ready to go!  Q: "Are the Green Beaver Toothpastes safe for babies and toddlers?" A: Absolutely! If they weren't we would not be selling them! We were asked this question on two occasions so we addressed it in our monthly newsletter ( sign up if you have not already done so!) and would also like to address it in our blog. In short, it's a fact that young children swallow toothpaste. Mainstream toothpastes contain flouride and other not so good ingredients which are not safe for swallowing.  When we first started learning about bamboo fibres, we never imagined just how soft they could be. When you think of bamboo, you probably automatically think of something hard, because what you think of is the raw bamboo you see in the picture to the left (which is hard!). This is so not the case when it is converted to a material! You really have to feel it to believe! There are so many interesting facts that we have learned about Bamboo in the past while.  At Nayla Natural Care, we carry a large range of products that are safe for your family. A question that we get asked often is "Why did you choose these products?" Well, alot of these products are things that I have used myself when pregnant with my children, during postpartum and during breastfeeding. The children's products are things that we have used on our children over the years and we love them so much that we wanted to make it easy for everyone to have access to them. So what about the products that we had not used before....well, we did ALOT of research before launching the store. We looked at lines that were not easy to access here in Canada but were excellent, product ingredients, scents (products scents are a big thing with me!), we looked at ease of use, and a whole set of other criteria before we decided to try the product out.
