So Why Bamboo?
When we first started learning about bamboo fibres, we never imagined just how soft they could be. When you think of bamboo, you probably automatically think of something hard, because what you think of is the raw bamboo you see in the picture to the left (which is hard!). This is so not the case when it is converted to a material! You really have to feel it to believe! There are so many interesting facts that we have learned about Bamboo in the past while. Did you know that Bamboo is naturally anti-bacterial?The following are just some of the wonderful facts about Bamboo provided by Bamboobino, our wonderful new line that we just added to our store!
- It's more absorbent than cotton.
- It possesses a property called bamboo kun, that makes it naturally anti-bacterial.
- Its cashmere-like softness is great for babies.
- Its porous fibres comfortably wicks moisture away from skin.
- It's hypoallergenic - suitable for newborn's sensitive skin.
- It's easy to care for - machine wash and tumble dry.
- It grows easily without pesticides or fertilizers.
- It takes in five times the volume of greenhouse gasses as an equivalent stand of timber trees and releases 35% more oxygen.
- It needs no replanting, and its roots retain water in the watershed, sustaining riverbanks and reducing water pollution.
- Bamboo fabric uses moso bamboo (phyllostachys pubescen), which is not the species eaten by pandas.
